This week is a time warp, kind of like those movies where a person is somehow able to visit a past version of themselves and tell themselves the best possible ways to avoid all undesirable outcomes while simultaneously guaranteeing bliss.
If we should find ourselves offering ourselves unsolicited advice, let's stop ourselves. No one knows best for us except right now us. Past us is clueless and future us is afraid. But the powerfully present version of us lives blissfully and intuitively in sync with the endlessly magical moment of now, where there is nothing to fear because all good things are possible. Probable even. Even if the future us thinks they know what's best, we must remind them of the butterfly effect - that one tiny thing can change everything. In fact, the mere presence of a future self means that everything is already different. There is nothing left to do except be ourselves, and be ready and willing to stare down any part of our consciousness too paranoid to trust ourselves to figure out how to become who we are... even if it means parting ways with the person our future selves expected us to become. This week we're going rogue.

This week is about tribe.
But before we can talk about tribe we have to talk about self. That's all a tribe is, is a collection of selves. That sentence you just read is the most important sentence in this reading so let's read it again. A tribe is a collection of selves. A unified tribe is its own body and is therefore only as strong as its weakest member, the one who doesn't know who they are. The way we can tell the ones who don't know who they are, is that when found alone they try to tribe with others too fast and assume a blended identify. Every strong ecosystem requires diversity; a population of cloned cells rather than individual cells becomes a cancer to the tribe. Therefore the only way to join and maintain a strong tribe is to be a strong, clearly defined self. And once part of a tribe, strong boundaries must also be kept to keep fools from rushing in. These days joining forces is indeed an urgent matter… but the urgency is precisely why we DON'T rush. Urgent situations require careful execution, since we only get one shot to get it right. Now...part of being a strong self is being able to withstand the intense anger, jealousy and ridicule at the minds and hearts of those who lack individuality and are therefore attached to a weak, cloned tribe. Whereas previously the energy would have made us disguise ourselves to slide beside them in the shade as a respite from the heat of our own light, now we simply burn brighter. And our shine makes it easier for our true squad to find us and scoop us up. Be patient. They coming. ~Oubria Ok this phrase has been used to death but this week really is about walking away from the people, places & emotions that no longer serve us. Cut off & cancel culture has become a trend, just like hairstyles - but just because everyone is suddenly rocking our look doesn't mean it don't still look good on us. This is the week to honor ourselves, even if doing so makes us look like copycats. Don't forget that all trends start from something real, and there is nothing fake about demanding respect and refusing to participate in self-shrinking patterns any longer, even if doing so shifts our relationships in uncomfortable ways.
Remember in the movie Good Fellas, when Henry Hill monologued about enemies coming with smiles and kisses, because we've known them all our lives? Discernment is the challenge this week. There will be no angry blowups, or cutting words, no neon signs above the hoes that can't be trusted, blinking *don't* * trust* *these* *hoes*. The fake love will be, as Drake says, straight up to our face. So we must be in this world but not of it, lest the quiet voice of wisdom and intuition be drowned out by the ever present HEYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! Ask yourself again this week, what does love feel like in your body? In your belly? In your gut? If you lose your way, remember that truth hides in silence. If someone is talking talking talking talking, ask yourself what is NOT being said. To quote the saintly father from Divine Secrets of the Yaya sisterhood - “When you know a person long enough, you can tell what they're trying to hide by the way they try to hide it.” This week, nothing is something too. ~Oubria |
