Why is Shadow Work important?


​​We must  face our shadows so that we can move through them, especially those of us who are called to be "light workers."
You cannot effectively bring anyone into the light if you have not dealt with your own darkness.
This happens slowly, one step, one moment, one realization at a time.
​Even if we falter. Even if we cry. Even if we are overcome with waves of rage, despair, shame & self-loathing.
Shadow Work is the business of discovering ourselves-as-miraculous, of realizing that we are the lotus flower, not the mud.

What happens when folks choose NOT to do Shadow Work?


​Projection.
What you refuse to see within yourself becomes ALL you can you see in the world around you.
​This can make life a dark place, where everything is an exaggeration of your worst fears, deepest insecurities & darkest memories.

How does your Shadow Work Course...work?


Through reading, writing  & then listening.

The Course in Shadow Work began as a blog in November 2020. A large group of women & I decided we would explore the dark side of each card in the Minor Arcana of Tarot (minus the Court Cards), because each of the 40 Minor Arcana scenes represent a particular moment in a human life. By examining the shadow side of each of these instances, we painstakingly, begrudgingly, worked through our shit. The first 29 blog posts (written by Oubria), explore the imagery & message of each card, & then use personal examples (some traumatic & triggering) to anchor the lesson into real life experience.  After participants read each post, they are encouraged to comment with whatever experience, memory or reaction that surfaces from the deep.

The responses are meant to help each person process & lay claim to their own personal journey. Folks shared (& continue to share) some truths that may be hard for others to witness, & you may feel led to do the same. Despite our transparency, there was very little direct response to each other. The Shadow Work Course is a space to be witnesses, not midwives. It is too hard to hold space for another while laboring to give birth to yourself. 

Though we are in it together, Shadow Work is lonely work.
​It is a constant reminder that YOUR voice desires & deserves to be heard, especially if you are the only one listening.

After much time in the darkness (33 blog posts), day begins to dawn. The last 7 messages (about an hour each) are private You Tube videos recorded by Oubria. They are less about the darkness & more about the first wobbly steps into the light. When you begin to hear the sound of my voice, you will know that you have made it.

We take great pleasure in welcoming you to the other side. 

How long does it take?

As long as it takes. 
It's called "40 Days of Shadow Work" because there are 40 different concepts/ experiences to explore,
​however it is almost physically & mentally impossible to move through this work in 40 days. 
This is heavy work. Don't time yourself; give yourself time.
